Mr. and Mrs. Alfredo and Bertha (Cardenas) Alvarez celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary with a Special Mass and reception for family on July 4, 2009 in Harlingen.

They were married on July 4, 1944 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, where they renewed their vows 65 years later.

The couple have four children, sons, Alfredo, Jr. (Minerva), Ron (Brenda), Eloy (Margaret) and daughter, Mary Bertha (Omar) Cano. They have been blessed with ten grandchildren, Darle Buck, Debra and Denise Alvarez, Gina Cano-Monreal, Omar Adrian and Amanda Cano, Monique Alvarez Ruiz, Jordan Alvarez, Andy and Eric Alvarez and five great grandchildren, Britanni Newland, Alexandra and Taylor Buck, Maya Monreal and Addison Ruiz.

Joining the celebration were relatives form Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Dallas and Florida.

The couple continue to reside in Harlingen.
