Bianca N. Barreda

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.” Jeremiah 1:5
In the early evening hours on Saturday, February 19, 2011, Bianca Nicole Barreda, beloved mother, faithful daughter, loyal sister, favorite aunt, and true friend lost her courageous battle with colon cancer at the age of 30. Bianca quietly passed into everlasting life at her home in Harlingen under hospice care, in her mother’s arms and with her siblings and close family by her side.
Bianca was born on January 1, 1981. She was a 1999 Harlingen High School graduate. Learning of the forthcoming birth of her beloved son, Rolando Salazar, Jr., she willingly set aside her scholarship at the University of Texas-Austin and dedicated herself to being a devoted mother to her Robear.
She returned to the pursuit of her education as a government major at the University of Texas at Brownsville in the Spring of 2009. Shortly thereafter, she became ill and reluctantly withdrew. Her heart’s desire was to become a political analyst.
Bianca is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Lester E. (1959) and Dora V. (2010) Blanchard; and her maternal aunt, Norma Linda (1968) Blanchard; also preceding her in death by ten days was her constant companion, her Shitzu, Gidgee.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of Bianca are her  son, Rolando (Robear) Salazar, Jr.; mother, Cecilia Blanchard; sister, Tamara Eve and her husband Frank Bustamante; her brother, Damion Lester Blanchard all of Harlingen; her brother, R. Adam (Tina Silva) Munoz of Brownsville, nephews, Frank Bustamante, Jr. of Harlingen and Jerden Silva of Brownsville; niece, Darian Munoz of McAllen; uncle, Lester and his wife Kathy Blanchard of Austin, and great aunts, Dolores Velez and Grace (Vincent+) Gonzalez of Brownsville.
Also surviving her are her dear and second family, Mary and Anicieto Villafranca; David and Michelle Salazar; Javier and Monica Salazar; Rolando Salazar, Sr., and the Salazar children whom she always and continued to recognize as her dear nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the loving acceptance, care and compassion extended to our loved one by Dr. Ann McCracken. Dr. Todd Shenkenberg, Dr. Tina Briones, Dr. James Castillo, the nurses and staff at Valley Baptist Medical Center and especially Esmi, Kathy, and Chill on the 4th Tower South; Barbara James, VBMC-Wound Care Specialist, and the nurses and staff at Odyssey Hospice, especially Louise and Tammy for the tender, loving and compassionate care they provided during her final two months.
According to her wishes, she has been cremated. The family will begin receiving family and friends on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 2 P.M. with a 3 P.M. memorial service, celebration of life, and video tribute lovingly prepared by her sister, Eve Bustamante at Trinity Funeral Chapel of the Holy Spirit at 1002 East Harrison Avenue in Harlingen, Texas (956)364-2444.
(John 6:47). Death comes when the struggle to cling to the flesh gives way. The dying will come to accept the journey that their spirit needs to take. And Jesus knows that journey. He went through it. He conquered it for you and for me. (John 11:25) Jesus alone is the judge of who inherits eternal life. So we leave it in His loving, righteous, gracious, and worthy hands.
