Valley man convicted of wife's fatal beating
WESLACO — An Hidalgo County jury convicted a rural Weslaco man Thursday of murder in connection with the 2011 beating death of his of his wife.
Pedro Villalobos, 27, murdered his wife, Farrah, on Feb. 19, 2011, at their home near Weslaco.
Doctors determined she died from blunt-force trauma to the head after she was taken off life support several days after the attack.
Jurors began hearing testimony at the start of the trial Tuesday from the Hidalgo County sheriff’s deputies who responded and investigated Farrah Villalobos’ slaying.
Deputies have said they responded to a disturbance at the Villalobos home and spoke with Farrah, but believe she was beaten after they left the scene.
Sentencing is set for 9 a.m. Friday.
