UTB/TSC commemorates Earth Day
The Office of Student Life will have music provided by Friday Avenue, the screening of Earth Day films from the Rio Bravo Film Festival, information tables and free food from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Student Union. Sting Radio, the campus radio station, will have a live remote and vendors from the Brownsville Farmers Market will sell items. Campus Police representatives will talk about bicycle safety.
Some of the information tables will feature campus recycling, the Department of Chemistry and Environmental Sciences’ degrees, using recycled products and environmentally friendly cleaners and products.
The newly formed campus Sustainability Council will have an Energy Bike Contest at the event. Teams of students ride an exercise bike hooked up to a generator to see how much energy can be used to power a video game. The team producing the most energy wins.
