    LA FERIA, TX. — Carlos Gonzalo Cavazos

    68, entered into eternal rest on Monday morning, October 19, 2009 at Valley Baptist Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

    Carlos was born on November 4, 1940 in Montemorelos, NL Mexico to Jose Angel and Felicitas Cavazos. At a young age, Carlos’ family moved to Santa Rosa, TX, then in 1956, moved to San Francisco, CA where he lived for 26 years. Carlos attended Francisco Jr. High and Galileo H.S. where he met his life-long best friend, Robert Padilla.

    After high school, he met and married his wonderful wife of 46 years and had his four daughters whom he loved dearly. During this time he worked for Macy’s as a furniture wood finisher and was a member of the Painter’s Union. Through his work he demonstrated precision and his fondness for wood work which led to many other outside jobs around the Bay Area.

    To fulfill a dream, he and his family moved to La Feria, TX in 1981, where he farmed and later worked with the United States Postal Service for 17 years.

    He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Angel and Felicitas Cavazos; siblings, Alvaro Cavazos, Jesus (Elvira) Cavazos, and Carlos Cavazos; in-laws, Jesus R. and Elida Serrato; and brother-in-law, Antonio Serrato.

    He is survived by his loving wife, Odilia Cavazos; his daughters, Dolores Cavazos of La Feria, Christine (Donnie) Brown of Arlington, Raquel (Ron) Adame of Sharyland, and Margaret Cavazos of La Feria. He is also survived by his grandson which was his pride and joy, Jeff Lee Adame, of Sharyland.

    He is also survived by his brother, Agustine (Consuelo) Cavazos of Folsom, CA, and his sisters, Maria De La Luz (Desidiro) Zamora of La Feria, Elva (Jerry) Karpata of Mountain Ranch, CA and Elena Rios of San Francisco, CA and many nephews and nieces which he cherished deeply.

    Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2009 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Chapel in Harlingen, Texas. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, October 26, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Xavier Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria, Texas.

    Proud to serve as pallbearers are Carlos Cavazos, Jr., Agustin Cavazos, Jr., Jorge Cavazos, Frank Zamora, Desidirio Zamora, Jr., Hector Zamora, Jim Serrata, Ed Serrata, Mark Castillo. Honorary pallbearers are Donnie Brown, Ron Adame, and Jeff Adame.

    Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Funeraria Del Angel, Cemeteries, Mausoleums and a Dignity Memorial Provider, 2906 S. Expressway 77/83, Harlingen, Texas 78550.
