Engagement Announcement

    Mr. Rogerio and Velma Cortez of Harlingen, Texas are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Valerie Cortez of Harlingen to Juan Manuel Paredes, Jr. son of Mr. Juan and Maria Isabel Paredes, Sr. of Harlingen.

    Valerie graduated from the University of Texas at Pan-American with a Bachelors in Criminal Justice and a Masters in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Texas at Brownsville. She is currently a third-year student pursuing her Doctor of Philosophy in Rehabilitation Counseling at the University of Texas at Pan-American. Valerie is employed as a Career & Technology Counselor at Harlingen High School South.

   Juan graduated from Harlingen High School South and is self-employed with Paredes Custom Woodworks in Harlingen.

    Valerie’s grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Rogelio Cortez of San Benito and Mr. & Mrs. Antonio Najera of San Benito.

    A December 17th, 2011 wedding is planned at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church with Father Briones officiating.
