Family Ring: The Davidson Family

The Davidson family has transformed their love of performing into a business and a true bonding experience, simply by having fun and doing what they love.
The trio, made up of father, mother and daughter, go by the moniker Pat Davidson and Family. They are comprised of Pat Davidson, 61, Tess Davidson, 42, and Mabelle Davidson, 16, of Mission. Together they perform comedy bits, magic segments and acrobatics that bring audiences to their feet, cheering and clapping for the quirky family.
Some of the trio’s most captivating stunts include a blindfolded unicycle trick, hula-hoop stunts and tumbling and air acrobatics.
Pat Davidson, the leader of the trio, said he’s been performing for more than 40 years and is happy he gets to work alongside his family.
“Some people like to perform, while others love to perform,” he said. “For us, it’s the love for what we do that keeps us going.”
Tess Davidson, who immigrated from the Philippines, said the group takes its act across the country and has performed in front of packed audiences of more than 60,000 people at circus and live events around the Midwest region.
Mabelle, who wants to be an actress when she grows up, said she has always had a strong passion for performing.
The three recently performed in front of a cozy audience at the South Texas Youth Stock Show in San Benito. Their comedy number brought the audience to laughter, while their tough unicycle and juggling act wowed the crowd.
Pat Davidson said their family dynamic is what usually draws crowds to their performances. He said nowadays families have a hard time sitting down for dinner together.
“When they see us, they quickly learn that we are really close,” he said. “And that’s a good thing, especially when we all lead such busy lives. We want to show families that it’s still a good thing to spend quality time together.”
