Tulsa,OK. - Donald Cook
Comments 0 | Recommend 061, passed away at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma on May 3, 2008. Don was born in McAllen, Texas on June 29, 1946.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Cook of Harlingen and survived by his mother, Janice Cook of Harlingen and his twin brother, Ronald Cook of Houston.
As a child Don lived in Germany, Libya, Indiana and San Antonio before his family returned to the Rio Grande Valley. He graduated from Harlingen High School in 1964. Don attended the United Stated Military Academy at West Point, the University of Texas at Austin and Pan American University in Edinburg. Don served in the United States Army Reserve from 1964 to1969, and he did an active duty tour at Fort Bliss, El Paso in 1965.
From 1968 to 1986, Don worked as a disc jockey and Program Director at radio stations in Odessa, Sinton, Orange, McAllen, Weslaco, and Brownsville, Texas, Broken Arrow and Tulsa Oklahoma. He loved music and believed it had the power to make the world a better place.
In 1986, Don began his second career as a computer specialist by attending TSTI in Harlingen, Texas and then working for American Airlines in Tulsa, Oklahoma as a computer technologist. He retired from American Airlines in 2002 as a result of medical disabilities.
Don was blessed with the love and support of many friends, and his family sincerely appreciates all that they did for him.
