HARLINGEN, TX. - Gilbert C. Elizondo
Comments 0 | Recommend 066, of Harlingen entered into rest July 28, 2008. He was born on February 21, 1942 to Rosalio and Magdalena Elizondo in La Feria, Texas.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and had been employed with WT Liston for 44 years. Mr. Elizondo was an active member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, the Pan American Golf Association, and the Schoenstatt Movement.
During his retirement he enjoyed his favorite pastime, golf and most of all his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers; Daniel Elizondo and Israel Taguilas.
Mr. Elizondo is survived by his loving wife of 40 years; Estella Elizondo of Harlin-gen, 2 children; Cristella Elizondo-Garcia of Harlingen, Gilbert Elizondo, Jr. of Mc-Kinney, TX, 4 grandchildren; Ashley Salazar, Mia Elizondo, Alejandro "Hondo" Garcia, Stephen Gilbert Garcia, 1 brother; Eleazar (Frances) Elizondo and 1 sister; Corina (Abel) Salazar.
Visitation will be held today (Thursday) July 31, 2008 from 9 am-9pm with a Holy rosary to be prayed at 7 pm.
The funeral procession will depart on Friday, August 1, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. for funeral services at Queen of Peace Catholic Church at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Honored to serve, as pallbearers are Robert Cantu, Reynaldo Elizondo, Rene Taguilas, Javier Villarreal, Jose Carlos Cantu and Roy Elizondo.
Honorary pallbearers will be Roberto Cantu, Carlos Cantu, Rafael Villarreal and members of the Pan American Golf Association.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and will be greatly missed.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home.
