Foxworthy: Funny for a cause
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Sometimes laughter really is the best medicine - for the body, the soul and even a community.
"Stand Up for Kids Benefit Concert" will be headlined by Jeff Foxworthy, a nationally-known comedian and actor on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 8 p.m. at the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Showgrounds in Mercedes.
The event will benefit the Pediatric Emergency Department of the Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, and the renovation of the pediatric unit at Valley Baptist in Brownsville.
Foxworthy is best known for his "You might be a redneck if ..." comedy, the Blue Collar TV comedy series on the WB network and his voice work as characters in the films "Racing Stripes" and "Fox and the Hound 2".
Before the night of comedy with Foxworthy begins, there will be the RGV's version of "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" with local celebrities Harlingen Mayor Chris Boswell and Judge Migdalia Lopez from Cameron County, along with 22 local 5th graders who qualified last month to participate in the show.
