Life's a Stage: Frank Garcia
Frank Garcia is a senior at Lyford High School and he has big plans for the future.
Frank is torn between becoming an actor or a theater arts teacher.
“I want students to feel the same joy I feel for acting,” Frank said. “Some people look down on theater and think that men shouldn’t be interested in theater or drama. But it’s something that helps you become more personal with yourself and your life and any guy that is willing to express who they are, they should join it.”
Frank is involved with the Harlingen Performing Arts Theatre’s production of “Once on this Island.” He travels each week from his home in Sebastian to Harlingen for practice and loves every minute.
“It is a great passion for me so it’s worth it to me,” Frank said.
He said he has been in church plays since he was 4 or 5 and has done high school theater since he was a freshman. He plans on studying theater arts at the University of Texas-Pan American in the fall. He said he most enjoys theater because he loves the audience’s reaction and might become a teacher because he wants students to feel the same joy he does in acting.
Ultimately his dream is to be a part of Broadway and hopes soon to visit New York City and watch a Broadway production.
Frank’s father is a post master at the Sebastian Post Office and his mom is a provider for his grandmother. Frank has three brothers and a sister-in-law.
His favorite food is McDonald’s French fries and his favorite books are the Hunger Games trilogy.
At school Frank stays very busy with activities including his position as senior class president, student council parliamentarian, National Honor Society president and drum major. He is in the UIL Pros, and is in Winter Guard.
Frank said when he is not at school or in theater he is at his church, Templo Bethel Santa Rosa. This year Frank is also a Sunday School teacher.
