Teresa G. Muniz
HARLINGEN, TX.—
Teresa G. Muniz, 93, went to meet her Lord in her residence surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 19, 2011. She was born in Mercedes, Texas on February 8, 1918 to Ildelfonsa Moreno and Jesus Maria Galvan. She was loving, caring, and very dedicated to her family and to her community. She was a lifetime member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, and a member of the Guadalupanas.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ofilio Muniz; daughter, Maria Teresa Muniz; and brothers, I.J. Galvan, Alfredo Galvan, & Arturo Galvan.
Teresa is survived by her brother, Herminio Galvan; sister-in-law, Genoveva Galvan (I.J. Galvan); children, Ofelio (Marian) Muniz, Imelda (Billy) Lozano, Herman (Tillie) Muniz, Janie Muniz, Ester Castillo, Maria Teresa (Danny) Guzman, & Jesus Maria (Sylvia) Muniz; 21 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Teresa loved to play chalupa and was very active in the political life of Harlingen, and was an advant football fan of both Harlingen high schools.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 22, 2011 from 9 A.M. to 9 P.M. with a holy rosary to be recited at 7 P.M. at Trinity Funeral Chapel of the Holy Spirit.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 11 A.M. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Mgsr. Pedro Briseno as celebrant and Father Phil Sosa as co-celebrant with interment to follow to Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in La Feria.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Larry Lozano, Eric Muniz, Michael Muniz, Joseph Guzman, Peter Muniz, Sonny Muniz, & Jennifer Castillo.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Muniz, Lorne Lozano, Jonathan Guzman, Christopher Muniz, Robert Amitrani, and Robert Muniz.
