Stripes clerks accused of selling alcohol to minors
HARLINGEN – Two persons were arraigned Sunday in connection with two incidents of sales of alcohol to minors.
Shaun Anthony Hoffpauir, 30, and Rebecca Renee Villafranca, 20, were arraigned on one count each of sale of alcohol to a minor, according to a press release by Sgt. John Parrish.
The arrests were part of “Keeping Teens Sober,” Parrish said in the relase.
On Feb. 11, Harlingen police conducted undercover operations at several businesses.
At about 9:35 a.m. at the Stripes convenience store in the 700 block of S. Commerce Street, officers saw a male clerk sell alcohol to a minor. The clerk was arrested and taken to the Harlingen City Jail.
Less than an hour later, another operation was conducted at the Stripes convenience store in the 1600 block of Morgan Boulevard, where officers saw a clerk sell alcohol to another minor. That clerk was also arrested and taken to the Harlingen City Jail.
Bond for Hoffpauir was set at $5,000; bond for Villafranca was set at $1,700.
