Nelson-Savage
Wedding Announcement
April Christina Nelson and Jonathan Keith Savage were united in marriage on January 12, 2008, in Astoria, Oregon, in a Winter Wonderland setting of lighted fir trees and sparkling snowflakes. Ron Tremain, U.S. Coast Guard acting Chaplain, officiated the ceremony. The evening ceremony was attended by many family members and friends.
For her wedding day, the bride chose a strapless white satin designer gown with Alencon lace covered with hand-sewn pearls and authentic crystals on a tulle overlay complimented by a lace mantilla. The bride wore a crystal encrusted American flag pinned on the skirt in remembrance of her brother-in-law serving in Iraq. She carried a white lace handkerchief given to her by Jonathan's grandmother who in turn received it from her mother on her wedding day. Her bridal ensemble was completed with a pearl and diamond necklace, a wedding gift from Jonathan. She carried a bouquet of white roses accented with glistening snowflakes.
The Matron of Honor was the bride's sister, Tracy Birdino of Astoria, Oregon. The Best Man was Ryan Long of Dallas, Texas. Bridesmaids were Melissa Myers of Tillamook, Oregon, Desiree Spreen of St. Helen, Oregon, sisters of the bride, and friend, Heidi Teresa of Astoria. The groomsmen were Tony Lewis of Dallas; Mac and Kyle Kutzenberger, both of College Station. Ushers were Brandon Blair of Harlingen and Clifton Blair of Corpus Christi.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Nelson and Mr. and Mrs. John Greenway, all of Astoria, Oregon. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Savage of Raymondville and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Lagerstam of Lyford and Mr. Judson Savage and the late Mrs. Barbara Savage of Georgetown, Texas.
The bride is a graduate of Warrenton High School and of Clatsop Community College and is employed with the Daily Astorian newspaper. The groom is serving in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Following a Mexican Riviera Cruise, Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Savage returned to Seaside, Oregon where they currently reside.
