Community Forum: A p-p-parable with a p-p-point

President-elect Obama snubbing the Hispanic community by not offering the position of Secretary of State to New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson reminds me of a joke I heard a few years ago.

The joke, in Spanish, is about a man who is always beating up his wife. After a particular beating the wife asks her husband, "Why do you beat up on me? I cook for you, I was and iron your clothes. I clean up the house. Why do you beat me up?" The husband replies, "Por Pendeja." ("Because you are stupid.") The wife replies, "I think you are right."

This beating-up of Hispanic voters by the Democratic Party will not stop until the Hispanic community wakes up and realizes it has been used and will not be taken seriously until it stops acting like Pendejos, easily persuaded by smooth-talking politicians like President-elect Barack Obama.

Gov. Bill Richardson will be an embarrassment if he accepts the position of Commerce Secretary that was tossed at him only as an afterthought. He will look like Un Perrito (a puppy) waiting for the leftovers. What a shame for a man with such an illustrious career.

It is very obvious that President-elect Obama does not trust a Hispanic to be part of his National Security team. This is the Thank You to the 67 percent of the Hispanics that voted for President-elect Obama. "Why do you beat up on us?" "Por Pendejos."
