HARLINGEN, TX. — Cecilio B. Zamarron
Comments 0 | Recommend 076, passed away January 2, 2010 at Sunshine Haven in Olmito, TX. “Cecil” to all his friends was born in Willacy County on November 22, 1933.
He was raised in Paso Real Ranch, San Benito, TX.
Born to +Franciso B. Zamarron and +Julia Alonzo but raised by his grandfather, Gregorio & Graciana Zamarron and Benita “Bene” Zamarron.
Cecil graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in Brownsville. He attended Pan American University and St. Mary’s University but left to join the Armed Forces. He joined and served during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged from the US Air Force in 1961.
In 1957 he married Maria Teresa Aguilar of La Junta, CO and moved to Harlingen. He retired from Interfirst Bank of Harlingen and Texas Dept. of Health. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and the 100 Men’s Club, and the Knights of Columbus where he was a 4th Degree Knight and the Catholic War Veteran’s.
Cecil is preceded in death by his wife, Maria Teresa Zamarron; 3 children, Felix, Cecil Joseph and Victoria Ann and a brother, Francisco B. Zamarron Jr.
He is survived by his loving family; 4 children; Dennis (Margie) Zamarron Sr. of Harlingen, Theresa (Wayne) Caldwell of Kyle, TX., Frances Ann (Fred) Flores of Harlingen and Henry G. Zamarron of Rockport. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, twin sister, Cecilia Z. Arriaga and 3 brothers, Jose Zamarron, Miguel Zamarron and Luis Zamarron.
A special thanks to Amelia “Molly” Martinez for her companionship and loving support.
Visitation will be held today (Monday) from 10 am to 9 pm and a rosary will be at 7 pm.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2010 departing the Rudy Garza Funeral Home at 9:30 am for a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
Interment will follow at Ashland Memorial Park’s Circle of Honor under the auspices of American Legion Post# 2410.
Pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree knights, Chapter #2785 and members of Immaculate Heart of Mary’s 100 Men’s Club.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made under Cecil’s name to Sunshine Haven located in Olmito, TX.
