Texas sex offender fights extradition from Nebraska
Comments 0 | Recommend 0ORD, Neb. — A sex offender arrested in Nebraska is fighting his return to Texas.
Twenty-nine-year-old William Sharp is in Valley County Jail, awaiting a hearing on Sept. 21.
Valley County Sheriff Casey Hurlburt says Sharp had been living in Ord, where he was arrested on Saturday.
Hurlburt says Sharp had absconded from Texas after failing to register when he was released from prison on July 23 to Ochiltree County. Sharp had been in prison since 2004 for failing to register as a sex offender.
The Texas sex-offender registry says that in 1997, when Sharp was 17, he molested a 14-year-old girl and was given a year of juvenile probation for indecency with a child, sexual contact.
