Santa Rosa, TX. - Monico R. Prado

He was born in Guadalupe La Joya, General Teran, Mexico on November 24, 1921 to Bernardo and Maria Elena Prado.
Monico was an active member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church and one of the founders of the Santo Nombre Cemetery. He worked with Santa Rosa ISD for many years.
He led a full active life and was dedicated to his family. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.
Monico is survived by his loving family, including his wife of 58 years, Ramona Prado, daughters, San Juanita (Hector) Garza; Lidia (Carlos) Torres; Oralia (Rojelio) Flores; Rosa (Ralph) Rubio; and sons Bernardo (Sylvia) Prado; Jorge (Cris) Prado; Monico Jr. (Veronica) Prado; Tony (Nilda) Prado, 33 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Juliana Elizondo from Monterrey, Mexico and Elva Reyes from Monte Morelos, Mexico.
Visitation will be held today, Saturday, June 21, 2008 from 9:00am until 9:00 pm at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace in Harlingen.
Visitation will also be held on Sunday, June 22, 2008 from 9:00am until 4:00pm at Rudy Garza Funeral Home and from 5:00pm until 9:00pm with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00pm at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Santa Rosa.
The funeral procession will depart the funeral home on Monday, June 23, 2008 at 9:15am for a 10:00am Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, interment will follow at Santo Nombre Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons; Albert Prado, Monico Prado III, Jorge Prado, Jr., Eli Prado, Randy Torres, Gary Garza, Eric Flores, Tony Prado Jr, Marc Prado, and Barney Prado Jr. and great-grandson Jonathan Rubio.
The Prado family would like to thank Dr. Shenkenberg and Staff, Dr. Levin & Staff, Infusion Unit & Staff, and the Hospice Unit of VBMC and Dr. Tina Briones.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Harlingen.
