HARLINGEN,/PRIMERA,TX. — Roberto “Bob” Martinez

He was born on April 21, 1955 in Harlingen, Texas to Simon Martinez & Sara Garza Martinez.
Bob attended Pasco High School in Dade City, Florida where he played baseball. He was employed by H.C.I.S.D. at Harlingen High School for 27 years. He had a passion for sports and was an avid Cardinal fan. Bob loved music, playing his drums, and was a member in his church choir at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his father, Simon Martinez.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Amelia T. Martinez, one daughter, Esmeralda Mar-tinez; four sons, Robert Lee Martinez, Michael Keith Martinez, Matthew Ryan Martinez, and stepson, Mario Tellez, and three grandchildren, Larisa Tellez, Alexis Tellez, and Aaron Tellez. He is also survived by his mother, Sara G. Martinez, and nine siblings, Olivia Simmons of Dallas, Frank Martinez of Harlingen, Gloria Martinez of Dallas, Mel Martinez, Mary Martinez, Gilbert Martinez, Sam
Martinez, all of Primera, Louie Martinez of Irving and Linda Martinez of San Benito.
Visitation will be held today, December 4, 2009 from 12 P.M. to 9 P.M. with a rosary to be prayed at 7 P.M. at Trinity Funeral Chapel of the Holy Spirit.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 10 A.M. at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church with Deacon Juan Valenzuela officiating.
Interment will follow to La Capilla Cemetery in La Feria.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Frank Martinez, Herman Salinas, Jr., Mike Vasquez, John Garza, Leandro Tellez, and Trinidad Perez.
Bob was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Trinity at Harrison Funeral Home 1002 East Harrison Harlingen, Texas 78550.
