Revealing the secret that was hidden from us
There is a saying that the Bible contains “a mystery that has been hidden from the beginning of time.” Colossians 1:26 says, “The mystery hidden . . .” We know that it is hidden. And if it is hidden, obviously we do not see the mystery with our eyes or hear the mystery with our ears, or detect it with our other senses. This mystery is somewhere else. The mystery has been hidden for ages and generations but now makes itself manifest to God’s saints. This is what the Apostle Paul claimed in Colossians.
Who are the “saints” to whom this mystery is now made known? Saints are persons who have agreed to engage themselves in spirituality instead of mortality, to believe and know without a doubt that they are one with God right now in ALL actions and reactions. To them God chose to make known the greatness they have available to them – the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is “Christ in you, the hope of glory.
What is this ‘Christ in you?’ What does that mean? That simply means that God, everywhere present, is also individualized inside of and through you, that you can feel God; God is not far off. From the beginning of time, we have believed that God is far-off and so still do some people in our world today. The faith of Jesus Christ, however, tells us that we are one with
God.
Sometimes when we are faced with a particular problem that seems overwhelming, a problem that we may have had for a long time, or even a split second, we may think that God has departed. We may falsely think that God is far-off and that we are standing here all alone — defenseless, on the front lines; we feel we don’t have any help or protection. The good news is that this is not spiritually true. It is certainly not the positive message of Jesus Christ.
Jesus’ message was indeed positive. In fact, he called it the “good news.” When he instructed his disciples to take this message to all people, he told them to go and spread the “Good News of the Kingdom of Heaven.” What is this Good News of the Kingdom of Heaven?”
Jesus communicated this positive message in many different ways, one of which was through the use of parables – stories that symbolically explained what the Kingdom of Heaven is like.
One of these parables appears in the Gospel According to Mark.
In Mark 4:26-29, Jesus says, ““The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed upon the ground and should sleep and rise night and day. The seed should sprout and grow and he knows not why. The earth produces of itself. First the blade and then the ear and then the full grain in the ear. When the grain is ripe, at once he puts it in the sickle because the harvest has come.” How is this a description of the Kingdom of Heaven?
The Kingdom of Heaven is the realm of Divine Ideas within the Christ Mind that is enthroned within every human being. This is the “Christ in you” of which the Apostle Paul wrote. Every parable that Jesus teaches is a parable about you and me, directly about us and what we are facing in our life and how to spiritually overcome it. In this parable, Jesus is teaching that the spiritual consciousness inside of us develops in a mysterious way like seeds that are put into the ground develop.
A spiritual idea that is sown in your mind will grow if it receives the nourishment and the encouragement that it requires. Understanding, faith, persistence and application allow God’s perfect Divine ideas to unfold in your mind in an orderly manner. These spiritual ideas – Divine Ideas – that are implanted within human-spiritual beings are our inheritance from God through the Christ that indwells us. They are the answer to our every need, and we can plant them in our consciousness and allow them to grow to maturity to take on form as the manifestation of every needed form of God’s good in our lives. This is the secret that has been hidden from us throughout the ages – Christ in us, our hope of glory!
