Marilyn Diane Cobb was called to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on November 21, 2009 to join her parents who preceded her in death. She was born in Wichita, Kansas on February 11, 1938 to Ruth and Aubrey Spradlin, long time residents of Harlingen. She was 71 years of age.

Surviving Marilyn is her son, Jimmy Cobb and wife Corrie Fuquay Cobb of Austin and her daughter Andrea Robertson and husband Daniel of Converse. Marilyn’s grandchildren are Traylor Cobb, Loren Cobb Franckowiak and husband Peter, Matthew Watson, and Jenny Hammans Cobb. Great grandchildren are Dallas Grace Franckowiak and Gavyn Lee Cobb both who have given her last year immeasurable pleasure as she was able to see them through their births and first year. Marilyn has a brother, Glenn and his wife Janie Spradlin of San Antonio, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marilyn and her family moved to Harlingen in 1947 and she was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 25 of those years. Marilyn graduated from Harlingen High School in 1955 and has been instrumental in keeping the graduating class united by planning socials, reunions and regular emails. After high school she earned a piano teaching certificate from St. Louis Institute of Music and taught private lessons for 54 years, influencing thousands to play and many students to become piano teachers or to continue in other music fields.

After being diagnosed with cancer last June, Marilyn moved to San Antonio to be closer to her family.

Visitation was held there on Tuesday, November 24th.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 29th at 2 pm at First Baptist Church in Harlingen, Texas with Chris Hall officiating and burial to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
