Achieving success a matter of self image

Do you want to be successful? “What kind of a question is that?” You might think, “Of course I want to be successful; doesn’t everybody?” Most of us would agree that, in one way or another, all human beings have a basic drive to succeed to at least some degree.

If this weren’t the case, our species would have probably become extinct thousands of years ago. As a species, we seem to be hard-wired for success. If success is natural to us, though, why do some people achieve success while others seem merely to survive?

Many teachings on the subject of success point to self-image as a prevailing factor in the
achievement of success. Those who see themselves as being worthy and capable of success in work, relationships, material supply, and personal well-being manifest that image as the creation of those experiences. Those who see themselves as unworthy or incapable, on the other hand, will never change their life experience unless and until they change their self-image. This is useful information, but how can we take advantage of it?

How can a person who sees himself or herself as unworthy and/or incapable of success, love and happiness exchange that self-image for one that is more positive? The Good news is that this positive self-image already exists within us; all we have to do is uncover it and access it.

This self-image, in fact, is the very image and likeness of God that resides within the heart and mind of every human being. It is the spark of Divinity, also called the Indwelling Christ, that is the focal point of the infinite heart and mind of God from which the human soul arises. This infinite loving Presence that has created every human being is all-powerful – capable of overcoming any challenge, supplying any need, healing any disease, harmonizing any relationship, or fulfilling any divinely-imparted desire of the human heart. If we experience this inner presence and see ourselves as the perfect children of God that we are, each of us can achieve and experience unlimited success in every area of our lives. It is what we were created to experience; it is our destiny.
