Would you get a tattoo, why or why not?
Honestly, I would not want to get a tattoo. I believe that they are damaging to the skin and would later on in life not even resemble what it originally was. Also the process of getting one is painful and removing one is even more painful. I would not want to ruin my skin by getting a tattoo. I would because it would be a memory I can have forever. I know the consequences of getting a tattoo but for me it's like a piece of art. It might not be the best decision but I’m still young. There’s always Laser Removal. Actually I would not really want to get a tattoo. There are many people my age who would want a tattoo, but I am not one of those people. It is actually pretty dumb to get a tattoo because when you are young you might get the tattoo of a butterfly but by the time you get all wrinkly it will look like a butterfly that has been smacked with a fly swatter. So that is pretty much why I would not get a tattoo. Bianca Jimenez, Veterans Memorial Academy Teacher: Heather George Tattoos could be thought of as a work of art or a permanent mess. I see others who have tattoos of words or designs on their body and think to myself, “How painful it must have been to etch it onto their skin!” I’ve only lived long enough to know that getting a tattoo could shape a person’s reputation. You could be thought of as a tough guy with tattoos or one who damaged their body for attention. I myself would not get one, not because of a new way of self expression, but if I came home with a tattoo on, my mom would have a heart attack. Rovianne Tindaan, St. Anthony’s Catholic School Teacher: Gregory Rustico I would not get a tattoo because nothing has happened to me that would make me want to get one. The reason I said nothing happened to me is that some people get a tattoo when a personal friend or family member dies. Many scuba divers get tattoos as a memory of an expedition or something they found. But if you just get a tattoo for fun, there is no point to it. There is no point because if something goes wrong it stays like that forever, you might not want a tattoo when you are older, and if you want to remove the tattoo it hurts and is costly. Grace Holder, St. Anthony’s Catholic School Teacher: Gregory Rustico Kids these days often yearn to take on greater responsibilities. Tattoos are certainly no exception. In the modern world, kids think the best way to fit in or gain popularity is to simply get a tattoo. However, many of us fail to see what else tattoos impose. Truth be told, a tattoo is certainly not one of my intentions. Like many, I have my own morals and values that I strive to keep true to. God created me. Life itself is a gift and my body is a temple specifically for His praise. Disrespecting His creation is the last thing I would ever want to do. The decision to get a tattoo is difficult for anyone as is. As for me, my only focus in life is on God and those I care about. Andoni Barrica, St. Anthony’s Catholic School Teacher: Gregory Rustico Yes I would get a tattoo; I would get a cross on my left arm and a bible verse on the other arm. I would also get the virgin de Guadalupe on my back. And I would also get Saint Jude’s. Jesus Garza, St. Anthony’s Catholic School Teacher: Gregory Rustico If it were my choice to get a tattoo I would not get one. I wouldn’t because I don’t know if it will hurt really badly and I would hate it if it never came off of my skin EVER. Second, if I ever wanted to get a professional job having a tattoo would be unprofessional. I know people think it’s cool but, some think about today and not tomorrow. Abbyjo Lopez, St. Anthony’s Catholic School Teacher: Gregory Rustico I wouldn’t get a tattoo because I figured it would hurt. I also find it wrong or desecrate or ruin my physical body with ink. I am not telling other people they shouldn’t get a tattoo by all means do what you want. But you will have to live with the regret of having a tattoo for your entire life. If you regret it you can remove it but it will cost a lot of money. They don’t even get rid of it they just shade it out. We all have choices and opinions but we must pick the right choice, the one you won’t regret. Derek De La Cerda, St. Anthony’s Catholic School Teacher: Gregory Rustico I would probably be undecided whether to get a tattoo or not because I think they look cool, but they can give infections. If I had to get one I would get a Parkour tattoo. God made us and our bodies, so we could be disrespecting God by getting a tattoo. Also, you probably wouldn’t be able to get many jobs because of that tattoo. Matthew Swartz, St. Anthony’s Catholic School Teacher: Gregory Rustico If I had to get a tattoo, it would have to be very meaningful to me. For example, I would get music notes on my wrist; only because music is my life. Honestly, I wouldn’t get a tattoo because God made our bodies as a temple, we are told to keep it clean and pure. If I get a tattoo it would be like putting graffiti on my temple. Daisy Huerta, St. Anthony’s Catholic School Teacher: Gregory Rustico If it were up to me, I would choose not to get a tattoo. I would choose that because it is basically disrespecting God’s given gift of life and body. Having a tattoo looks cool and all, but it is a just a symbol that also shows you disrespected your body. John Ramirez, St. Anthony’s Catholic School Teacher: Gregory Rustico Most of my family has tattoos and though they may look cool, I would never get one. There are many reasons why I wouldn't get one, like it hurts when you get one, you might get sick form the needles, and most importantly, they are permanent. I hope that one day when I am in my 20's, I don't get one just because I am drunk and my friends dare me. Brianna Menchaca, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee If I had a choice to get a tattoo, I wouldn't do it. I wouldn't do it because it is something permanent that will never come off. It also sometimes effects the future like for example if you’re trying to get a job sometimes the bosses don't let you work their unless you cover it up. Many may say "Oh wow that looks cool!", but it is not always a pretty thing. Like for example it is a very painful thing and also my parents would kill me if they would find out. I’m pretty sure other kid’s parents would also get mad. So in my opinion it is kind of a bad thing and I know that I would never get one. Jackie Ruiz, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee If I could get a tattoo I would absolutely get one in a heartbeat. Ever since freshman year I have wanted one so bad. The tattoo that I would want would be hearts on my wrists and a butterfly on my lower back. They would be very colorful just like me. Celina Casanova, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee Tattoos are a very unique and artistic way to show your self, and that is one way I would love to express myself. Just being able to show and express myself without even having to say anything is awesome. I would love to show my unique self with a tattoo. I only want one tattoo, a panther on my back left shoulder. I think, for me, one is good enough Stephen Cavazos, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I wouldn't want a tattoo because it is a permanent mark that will stay on you forever, and because when you’re old it will get all wrinkled and ugly. Nora Katana Sims, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I would get a tattoo if it actually means something. Not just because it "looks cool" or to get a guys name on my body. But for it to symbolize something that is worth getting on my body. Abigail Gonzalez, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee Honestly I’m not every big fan of tattoos. Like when I see people covered up in tattoos I just freak out. Especially women, women who have tattoos make think twice about dating girls. So personally no, I wouldn’t get a tattoo, because then I would be scared for life. Andres Dena, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee Getting a tattoo is something I would have with me for the rest of my life. When I go apply for a job, and people notice the tattoo, their going to think that I am a person who does not have much responsibility. It is also against Gods will. By me getting a tattoo just means I don’t care about the body that god blessed me with. These are just a few bad advantages out of other countless ones. So most definitely I will not get a tattoo. Luis E. Rodriguez, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I do not agree with getting a tattoo because it is something that changes your body. The ink that the people distribute on them selves, who get tattoos can get infected or can have a mistake done. The outcomes could be good but also be very bad. Having a tattoo is something that would hurt as well so the pain I wouldn't handle at all. The tattoo is permanent so if one day you decide to take it off there are ways but they will hurt. So some people may like it but tattoos are definitely not for me. Yamilex Garcia, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee Honestly, I would not get a tattoo, because for one thing, I don’t think I would like the pain. But the other reason is because I simply don’t like tattoos. To me, they are unnecessary, and make people ugly, as they look good on certain people. I would not like to get one. Airik Sanchez, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I would never get a tattoo. My uncle acquired Hepatitis C from getting tattoos, so now I am afraid to get one. Casey Gatton, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I would not get a tattoo because I think that it is one of the main things that make a body look dirty. Personally my mom thinks that if you get a tattoo, you're not beautiful anymore. It is understandable that people get tattoos to make statements about themselves, but I wouldn't because there are better ways to express pride and love. Irene Infante, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I would probably get a tattoo, but only if I had a big changing point in my life. Maybe if someone close to me died, I would get something in their remembrance. I wouldn’t want to get a tattoo if it had no meaning. I wouldn't want to have something on my body for the rest of my life, if it’s just going to be a dumb thing I did in my rebellious teenage years. Also I would also get the tattoo in a discreet place, because people with tattoos get stereotyped often. Also, when I would want to apply for an important job, visible tattoos could be the deal breaker. So tattoos are a really important thing to think about. Kids and or people should think twice before they get a tattoo Ariya Tafola, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I wouldn't get a tattoo because that doesn't look very appropriate. Sometimes when people are looking for a job they look you over and having a tattoo wouldn't look very professional. Another thing is that a tattoo is a marking that is left in your body. Violeta Rico, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I believe the choice for doing something like that is purely our own. I believe some memories just need to have a better memory accompanied by it or a different type of specialty. I would maybe get a tattoo just as a more loving gesture, but not just out of the blue. Sierra Pena, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I would love to get a tattoo because when I was a baby something happened that changed my life, I was burned. I want to remember that date forever because I know that being burned is what makes me who I am. A tattoo is something that is always there just like the scars that we all have. Danelle Potter, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee No, I wouldn’t get a tattoo because I am a practicing catholic and it says in the Bible that you shouldn’t mark your body that god gave you! Kevin Zimmerer, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I would love to have a tattoo but not just any tattoo it would have to have a deeper meaning to it or a story behind it. A deeper meaning would have to be a memory of a tragic day or a wonderful day, whenever you would want to remember for the rest of your life. The past, the present, maybe even the future. Hillary Rocha, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I would normally never get a tattoo because I think there kind of pointless and a little stupid. Tattoos can get infected very easy and in some cases not even the best laser surgery removal can undo the damage. But if absolutely had to get a tattoo it would be of something that I won’t grow out of like a favorite animal or type of music. In my case I think I would get a tattoo of penguins, they are my favorite animal ever since I saw some special about them on the discovery channel 10 years ago. Jose Olivo, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I would get a tattoo because it is a form of art and every tattoo has a meaning behind it. Matthew Chrostowski, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I would not get a tattoo because I believe god made me special. I'm scared from surgeries when I was a baby and I've been a wild child but I would never do any thing to defile my body. my body is a temple in my opinion and religion and to tattoo it would be the same as if I spray painted the temple, it would upset many people and its not going to look very good to others and its going to make them think things that aren't true about me so I would never get a tattoo and I frown upon people that get them. Zack Oestreich, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee Tattoos aren't as bad as everyone thinks, they usually have meaning and a story behind them. Some show the love of a lost one and others show memories of important events in the person's life. It is true that people do take advantage of it and put stupid things that they will later regret, but I think for the most part someone who gets a tattoo needs to know that it's a permanent thing that won't ever leave, and as long as they're comfortable with getting it and keeping it until they're 100 then it's okay. Jennifer Villanueva, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I actually already have a tattoo, so if I could get another one I probably would because I don’t see any problem in it. Daniel Rodriguez, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I'm not really a big supporter of tattoos, but if a person wants to get one, they should. I would get a tattoo but I wouldn’t go over board and get a whole bunch all over my body or get just one really big one that takes up like half of my body, I would only get one that’s covered up so it wouldn’t affect me in the future. Michael Martinez, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee If I could I would get a tattoo. After I turn eighteen of course ‘cause if not my parents would kill me. I think I would get like some stars on my stomach, something cute. I would want to but I doubt I will because of the pain. One of my teachers told me that when you start getting tattoos. You become addicted to them. Also you got to consider that once you get a tattoo, it’s going to stay there forever. I still think I would because I think it would look cool. Damaris Perez, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I would not put a tattoo on my skin. Yes some look really cool but personally I would never tattoo my self. One reason is because my dad wouldn't approve it and another reason is because I don't really see my self looking good with a tattoo. They a permanent and I don't think that when you are applying for a job and they see you have a tattoo they will judge you. Luis Pecina, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee If I had the opportunity to get a tattoo I would because I am an artist and I like the idea of body art, but I would make sure I got something that had meaning to me, that I didn’t get by being dumb or peer pressure, and I wouldn’t regret in the future; so even when it fades and sags I would still be happy I got it and know what it is and what it meant to me. Kimberly Segura, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I would not get a tattoo. Tattoos are a sin so I don't want to disrespect God. "Your body is your temple, do not mark on it" or something like that. Emerie Sanchez, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee When I get older and finish college I will get a tattoo. I don't know what my tattoo will be, but I would want to get something tribal. It won’t be too big it will only be a half sleeve. I would like to get my last name on my back and my parents name in a heart, and put "together forever" inside. Elias De Leon, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I do not agree with getting a tattoo because it is something that changes your body. Yamilex Garcia, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I myself would get a tattoo, if I was old enough. People say it's a bad thing and it's permanent. That's the reason why when, and if I ever get one I will make sure to get one that I will not regret and has meaning behind it. Not one that's just for fun and has no reason for getting it. Like for example, my sister and I sister are planning to get one together so can have a memory of us everywhere we go. Clarissa Lopez, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I wouldn't get a tattoo because they are permanent and when I grow up I wouldn't want my children to look at me with one of those and besides in the bible it says is wrong do anything about tattoos, piercing, or anything related to that to your body because your body is a sanctuary. I think I would get a tattoo, but it would have to be of something meaningful to me, not just to get a random tattoo. Sometimes I doubt in getting one because what if later on I regret getting it, and besides I’m afraid of needles so I don’t know. Sometimes I think I would get one but then I get to scared too, so I say no.

I would not get a tattoo. Tattoos are a sin so I don't want to disrespect God. "Your body is your temple, do not mark on it." or something like that. |
Emerie Sanchez, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I would not get a tattoo 1)for moral beliefs 2)it's painful 3)it'll be there forever unless you have the money to remove it and hardly anyone does 4)it fades 5)and sometimes it's hard to find a job. Rebecca Benitez, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I would love to get a tattoo some time in the near future. I don't think that tattoos are bad for the body or anything, but I do believe people that get tattoos for no good legitimate reason are ridiculous. I think that people should get tattoos with a purpose. Tattoos are a symbol of thoughts and feelings. I personally love them and think they are good to have as a part of you. Teacher: Jean Bovee I would get a tattoo because it expresses who I am as a person, and what I like. If I ever did get a tattoo it would be of a dove, because it expresses freedom, and that I am free. Also expresses that our country is now free from all things like slavery. I would also get a tattoo because it represents who I am as an individual and that I have individual rights to do anything I please to do to myself, without caring what anyone thinks or says about me. Amber Germain, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee People ask me if I would get a tattoo. The answer is yes. The reason I would get a tattoo is because it would express the type of person that I am. But If I think about it I wouldn’t get a tattoo because it is really dangerous for your skin and body. But for the most part I would get a tattoo. I would get it on my wrist of a heart. However, I still have a lot of time to think about it so I have no worries. Valentina Mandujano, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee No I would not get a tattoo because if you think of both the pros and the cons. I think there are more cons there are pros. For example, you can get all types of infections if it is not sanitary, when you get older its not the same, and sometimes it just looks bad. I think getting tattoos is just a phase in those people’s lives and they will eventually regret it. Don't get me wrong some people get tattoos for a purpose and that fine. I just don't find it necessary for anyone to get for. The fun of it, and the main reason I would not get a tattoo is because I would not want my parents to be disappointed in me. Cristian Farias, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee Sometimes I wonder myself if I should get a tattoo. Though I may think I want one I soon change my mind, therefore I say no to a tattoo. I say no to a tattoo because when I get older I don't want one that is going to get ugly because I’m going to wrinkle when I’m old, also if I apply for a job they may not hire because of it. I do not want to be controlled because of my decision that is why I do not want to get a tattoo. Petra Bazan, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee A tattoo is something many people see as "cool". Personally I think they are cool and a great way to show your self-expression, but I would not choose a tattoo to express myself. I personally can’t say I definitely wouldn't or would get one because I’m still in my youth and one day might mess up and get one for something I think is important at that time. Therefore I can’t really make up my mind whether or not I would get one or not. Martin Mendoza III, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee Yes, I would get a tattoo because I like them and believe that any one you get represents who you are. If you don’t get one then that also represents who you are. Blake Bloomquist, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee If I were to get a tattoo it wouldn’t be just any tattoo it would have a meaningful and inspirational significance to it. I wouldn’t be the person who wakes up every day with a sorry look on their face wondering why they stamped themselves with such a hideous looking thing. I would be that person who every time looks at their tattoo gets that pumped up motivational feeling, and is ready to fight whatever the world has to offer up against him. I would get a tattoo on my right hand that reads “Aequitas” which in Latin means “Justice.” Elias Garcia, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee When I become the appropriate age I would like to receive a tattoo. Nothing flashy or vulgar just a simple quote or meaningful symbol I would get. Getting a tattoo would mean I myself made my own decision to get one not my parents. If I could resemble a celebrities tattoo that would also be my first choice. It would be very nice and could also be an honor to past people we once knew. Clarissa Castillo, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee No I would not get a tattoo for two reasons. One reason being that tattoo’s stay on your skin forever and you can never take it off unless through surgery. The other reason is when I grow old and get wrinkles I will regret the day I got it and the tattoo will look disgusting. I just do not like the idea of having a tattoo on my body. Miranda Gonzalez, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee Tattoos are something that is never fancy. I think they are dumb and there is no real reason for anyone to get one. There are so many bad reasons. What’s the point in having them, if you have to cover them up when you’re working or then your looks matter you have to cover them up? In all words they are just shameful marks people think they need to have on their body. Dudley Shine, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I used to think that getting a tattoo was a very bad thing. I thought it wasn't lady like or suitable for a girl to have. Now that I am older I think tattoos are actually cool. I would only get one that is meaningful to me. Something that I will treasure for the rest of my life. Carissa Villarreal, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee Marylou Martinez, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee Would I get a tattoo… umm I would but then again I wouldn’t. I would get a tattoo because it reveals to others your creative side and how unique you are in your own way. But, then again I wouldn’t want to get a tattoo because they are permanent and most of the times when you get older you wonder why you got it in the first place and how you feel it doesn’t belong anymore. Therefore I’m undecided about getting a tattoo. Jensine Villarreal, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I would get a tattoo depending on what it is. The only time I would get one is if it represents something that has different meanings, or from a very important event in my life that has happened. I don't personally think tattoo are bad for people, they just need to be put on you because of a meaning, nothing like satanic meanings or gang related body tattoos, that is just plain bad and irresponsible, or even cover your whole body with them. But take them with responsibility and legally. Fabian Montelongo, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I would never choose to get a tattoo because I feel like that is disgracing the body God blessed you with. Also when I get older the tattoo will look ugly because when you’re older your skin isn't as tight. Plus if were ever to choose to remove the tattoo it would be extremely painful. Diana Garza, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee Yes because a tattoo isn't bad. A tattoo is just another way of art. Some people even use tattoos as a way of religion or a way into manhood. In my opinion it’s not a bad thing to get a tattoo and is another way of expressing individuality. Efren Segovia, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee I would totally get a tattoo. I'm not sure if my parents would allow it but I'd like one. Barbwire letters of a band named White chapel right on my forearm would be enough for me. :) Jacob Martin, Weslaco High School Teacher: Jean Bovee A tattoo would ruin my career. Due to the fact that nobody would take me serious or pay attention to me at interviews, or work. It would show my level standards of and it would show my level standards of a person, whether I'm an organized person or not. It wouldn’t be a good way to represent a sale or be a great leader to my siblings, because I'm their role model. And it would hurt me to see them make an error,
Valerie Gonzalez, Weslaco High School
I would get a tattoo only if it symbolized something. For example, like if I were to go threw a tragedy and could have died because of it, I would want to have some sort of inspirational word to be able to be strong. Or if I were to accomplish something great like play college volleyball then I would get a tattoo that says faith, hope, or just have angel wings to symbolize an angel has always guided me threw everything.
