ARROYO CITY, TX.—Susan (Susie) Helene Walker Quick
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Passed away on Wednesday. August 26, 2009, in Arroyo City, Texas. She was born to Jim and Pat (Dobler) Walker in Beloit, Wisconsin, on April 4, 1949, and moved to La Feria with her family in July of the same year. As Susie often remarked, “I moved to Texas as soon as I could.”
Susie is survived by the following loving family members her mother, Patricia Lutz, of Arroyo City, her father and stepmother Jim and Diana Walker, her husband, David Quick of Harlingen, former husband, Jim Elliff of Mission, two sons, Greg Elliff of Corpus Christi, and Chris Elliff and granddaughter, Sydney of Montgomery, Alabama, one sister, Kathy Mason (Dan) of Fort Worth, one brother, Mike Walker (Julie) of McAllen, and four nieces. She also leaves behind many good friends who mourn her passing.
Susie attended school in Rio Hondo, San Benito and graduated from Point Isabel High School in 1967. She wrote for the school newspaper and excelled in English and Literature.
Among her creative talents were crafting jewelry. No two pieces were exactly the same. She was a “people-person” and could converse with anyone, immediately putting others at ease, It was fun to help with her various crafts shows around the valley and watch her sales ability in action. In fact she often sold the sets she was wearing on the spot, as she was a walking advertisement for her wares.
No family gathering was complete without samples of her expertise in the kitchen and we knew that she was the world’s champion salad maker. We will miss her wit, sense of humor, and loving concern for others. Susie had a forgiving heart and loved her family and friends deeply and completely.
