HARLINGEN, TX.—Eugene C. Webb

Eugene was born in Whitesville, WV on January 4, 1927 to Jacob and Madeline Webb. He was a former resident of Reynolds, IL. He was a longtime machinist at the Rock Island Arsenal in Rock Island, IL where he made parts for the M-14 rifle and the spotting rifle. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the occupied area of Japan.
He retired to the Valley in 1988 where first lived in Brownsville, TX at Winter Haven and then becoming a resident of Harlingen, TX in 1995. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Harlingen, TX. He had a passion for collecting model antique cars, fishing and writing poetry.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma Webb of Harlingen, TX; brothers, Bob Webb and Dayton Webb; sister, Pat Smith 20
grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; step-sons, Larry Cheek, Kenneth Cheek and Mark Cheek; step-daughters, Regina Moore, Nancy Cheek, and Donna Vande-Kral; numerous nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Deborah Benney, and brother, Dennis Webb.
Memorial services will be held at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Harlingen, TX, 5:30 PM, Saturday, October 31, 2009.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church.
