Churches and reception possibilities book well in advance Have a good idea of the wedding's time and place, so you may begin to look for a dress that is appropriate for the type of ceremony you will have Choose your bridesmaids and groomsmen Send your engagement announcement to the newspaper
10 MONTHS BEFORE
Begin to look for a caterer, baker, florist, musicians, photographer, and videographer. Decide who will conduct the ceremony and remember that some faiths require counseling before they will perform the service
8 MONTHS BEFORE
Secure your caterer, baker, florist, musicians, photographer, and videographer Have your dress selected Register for gifts. Check your registry often especially the week of the wedding and remind the stores to keep track of items purchased

6 MONTHS BEFORE
Think about your honeymoon, but wait to call a travel agent until you have a general idea of the where you want to go Plan the details with all the wedding professional Reserve transportation for the wedding party Order wedding stationery - invitations, response cards, programs and thank-you notes. Shop for the bridesmaid's dresses. Reserve hotel rooms for outof-town guests. Offer at least two options for your guests
4 MONTHS BEFORE
Finalize your honeymoon plans and don't forget passports if traveling abroad Finalize the guest list. Use complete names, addresses and zip codes to ensure delivery Set an appointment for your first dress fitting Choose and order the wedding rings Schedule the rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner Reserve a hotel room for the wedding night
2 MONTHS BEFORE
Visit your officiant to go over vows Shop for honeymoon clothes Have your formal portrait taken Mail your invitations, be sure to check the postage Choose the gifts for attendants If you are moving, send change of address information to the post office Get name-change forms from the department of motor vehicles and Social Security Office
6 WEEKS BEFORE
Have the final dress fitting Pick up the rings Print programs Send your announcement to the newspapers
2 WEEKS BEFORE
Apply for the marriage license.. Submit lists of must-take shots to the photographer and videographer, and your playlist to musicians Arrange the seating plan. Write out table and place cards Write toasts for the rehearsal dinner and reception
1 WEEK BEFORE
Pack for the honeymoon; don't forget your going away outfit If traveling abroad, purchase a small amount of the local currency Give the final guest count to your caterer Check the final guest count to your caterer Check final details with all wedding vendors Keep up with thank-you notes Remind all attendants of the rehearsal details Throw the bridesmaid's party, at which you'll distribute gifts Pick up your dress a few days before the wedding
1 DAY BEFORE
Treat yourself and your mom to a day at the spa Hold the rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner Go to bed early and try to get a good night's sleep
