SAN BENITO, TX.— Gwendolyn Dovie Wells

91, passed away Friday, November 20, 2009 at a local nursing home.

Gwen was born on June 12, 1918 in Drumright, OK to Joe and Ada Thomas. She was married to John Wells for 65 years and he preceded her in death in 2001. She retired from the San Benito ISD after many years of employment.

Gwen at one time was a member of the Baptist Temple Church in San Benito and the Rio Hondo Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school and loved to bake.

She is survived by her daughter, Gina Lynn Wilson; grandchild, Zachary Wells; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, sisters, husband, and a son John Mark Wells.

Visitation hours will be held from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM with the family present from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Sunday, November 22, 2009 at the funeral home.

Graveside services only will be held at Mont Meta Memorial Park, 2:00 PM, Monday, November 23, 2009 with the Rev. Gene Horton officiating.

The family request that those desiring to do so may make donations to the charity of choice.
