Woman robbed at La Feria arcade, suspect arrested

LA FERIA  — A clerk was found tied to a chair at the arcade where she worked, by a man who reportedly stole $20,000 from the business, Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio said.

County sheriff deputies on Wednesday arrested Bobby Gene Martin, 45, of Houston on a charge of felony theft. The woman, 69, knew the suspect, Lucio said.

The woman told authorities she was working at the “Fun Time” arcade, 10622 County Road 2556, when Martin entered the establishment, and the two struggled, Lucio said. The man overpowered her, and tied her to a chair in the storage room, Lucio said.

Martin is accused of taking $20,000 from the arcade and stealing the woman’s car and cell phone, Lucio said.

After he left, the woman said she was able to loosen the cords that tied her to the chair and call the police.
