PHOTOS: Border Patrol nets more than 20 tons of drugs
EDINBURG - U.S. Border Patrol agents confiscated more than 12 tons of narcotics in multiple seizures over the past six days throughout the Rio Grande Valley sector.
One of the largest busts occurred Tuesday when agents spotting a white truck traveling toward the Rio Grande. As agents converged on the vehicle, it was abandoned by its occupants along a road in Salineno. Inside the truck were more than 1,400 pounds of pot.
Another significant seizure happened near Rio Grande City when agents, following footprints of people that had recently crossed the river, came upon more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana.
