One person dies in weekend wreck in Alton

ALTON — Police continue to investigate what caused a single-vehicle wreck over the weekend that killed one person.

The wreck occurred just before 6 a.m. Saturday on Mile 5 ½ North Road near Alton Boulevard/Conway Avenue, said Alton Acting Police Chief Enrique Sotelo.

Authorities did not release the name of the deceased or any other details of the wreck because the officers have not completed their investigation.

Depending on what the investigation reveals, the driver could face a charge of intoxication manslaughter in connection with the death, Sotelo said.
