Ariz. prison on lockdown after fight involving 100

BUCKEYE, Ariz. (AP) — An Arizona corrections official says a fight has broken out among more than 100 inmates at the Lewis prison complex west of Phoenix, injuring three inmates and a corrections officer.

Arizona Department of Corrections spokesman Barrett Marson says the Wednesday morning fight has prompted officials to put the prison on lockdown.

Marson says the fight broke out in a high-security unit of the prison and was mostly in the recreation yard and the kitchen.

Marson also says no one suffered life-threatening injuries, and that no weapons were used in the fight. He says the officer suffered bumps and bruises, and one inmate who had a head injury was flown to a Phoenix hospital.

He says the reason why the fight broke out is under investigation.
