Department of Insurance relocates staff to Disaster Recovery Centers

The Texas Department of Insurance has relocated three of its consumer assistance teams to newly opened Disaster Recovery Centers in the Rio Grande Valley, the agency announced Tuesday.

The centers were established by the Federal Emergency Management Agency in response to Hurricane Dolly.

A fourth Texas Department of Insurance team remains in Pharr to help consumers in the McAllen area.

TDI field staff is available at the following locations to provide in-person help to consumers, the agency said via a press statement:

 

Harlingen Municipal Auditorium

1204 Fair Park, Harlingen

 

La Villa Middle School Multipurpose Room

500 E. 9th Street, McAllen

 

211 W. Hidalgo, Raymondville

 

Home Depot

409 N. Jackson, Pharr

Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Consumers can also get help by calling TDI's Consumer Help Line at 1-800-252-3439. The Consumer Help Line is available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. Spanish speakers are available.

Consumers who suffered a loss from the hurricane winds, tornadoes or flooding should contact their insurance companies to begin filing a claim.

Consumers in Cameron, Hidalgo and Willacy Counties who have uninsured losses due to Hurricane Dolly should register with FEMA by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or online at http://www.fema.gov/assistance/register.shtm
