Arroyo City Fishing Tournament won't be held for first time in many years
Comments 0 | Recommend 0ARROYO CITY - For the first time in recent memory the Arroyo City Fishing Tournament will not be held, according to local group that sponsored the event.
In the July/August edition of The Valley Sportsman Club's newsletter, the club announced that it had decided not to sponsor the annual fishing tournament. The club had sponsored the event for the past 10 years.
The tournament served as one of the summer's big three coastal fishing tournaments in the Rio Grande Valley. The other two are the Port Mansfield Fishing Tournament and the Texas International Fishing Tournament in South Padre Island.
Arroyo City's event, which was usually held around July 4, also served as the unofficial kickoff to the summer fishing season.
