WESLACO -- Police arrested two men suspected of beating a victim and taking his cell phone last week.

Jose Cruz Peña, 43, and Joel Andres Peña, 21, were arraigned on aggravated robbery charges Friday at the Weslaco Municipal Court, according to a news release issued by the Weslaco Police Department. Each man was given a $75,000 bond and transported to the Hidalgo County Jail.

The 37-year-old victim told police he was "jumped" by three men near the 1600 block of Ramos Drive just after midnight on Nov. 7, the statement said. The victim said the men punched him, threatened him with a handgun and took his cell phone from his pocket.

The victim said he recognized the suspects that attacked him.
