Valerie Gotay begins Olympic journey tonight

Harlingen-trained Olympiad Valerie Gotay will begin her quest for Olympic gold tonight (Monday in China) in women's lightweight judo.
Gotay takes on Gulzat Uralbayeva of Kazakhstan in a women's lightweight preliminary match at 11 p.m. local time. Should she reach the finals, they are set for 5:42 a.m. Monday.
Gotay, a member of the United States team, trains year-round at the USA Judo National Training Site in Harlingen. She competes in the women's 57 kg (125 lbs.) division.
