Benefits, counseling offered to vets at RGV Harley-Davidson
Comments 0 | Recommend 0SAN BENITO - Military veterans can receive free counseling on their government benefits from the Disabled American Veterans from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Road Runner Harley-Davidson, 3515 W. Expressway 83.
The assistance will also be available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at RGV Harley-Davidson, 1201 S. Bentsen Rd., McAllen.
The 2008 Harley's Heroes Tour will include stops at more than 175 Harley-Davidson dealerships where benefits assistance will be offered to all veterans in communities where they live.
The mission of Harley's Heroes, made possible with a $1 million grant from the Harley-Davidson Foundation to the DAV, is to provide assistance in obtaining benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs, Harley-Davidson officials said.
Disabled American Veterans service officers will provide benefits counseling to veterans who suffer from service-connected injuries, but may never have filed a claim for benefits or for those who have found it difficult to work with the DVA.
Disabled American Veterans pins with special Harley's Heroes graphics, will be available to the first 150 veterans who attend each event.
