HARLINGEN — A 62-year-old man was arrested on an assault charge after an incident with his girlfriend, according to a police press release.
Officers were dispatched about 8:10 p.m. on Monday to the 7100 block of West Business 77, where police said they found that a physical altercation had taken place. They said the victim was unable to speak about the incident because of the physical state she was in, and was taken to Valley Baptist Medical Center for treatment.
The man, identified as Fidel Cereceres, 62, was highly intoxicated and became aggressive with officers during the interview, police said. He was arrested after giving different accounts of what had happened to the woman, police said. Cereceres was arraigned and bail was set at $3,500 on a Class A misdemeanor charge of assault family violence, the press release states.
HARLINGEN — A man arrested on outstanding court warrants was additionally charged with possession of drugs, police said in a press release. Officers spotted two men, one identified as Ricardo Resendez Gonzales, 28, riding bicycles about 12:09 a.m. on Tuesday in the 600 block of South P Street, police said. They said officers stopped the men because of recent burglaries in the area.
Gonzales was arrested after a criminal records check showed that he owed $3,317.30 in outstanding Harlingen Municipal Court warrants, police said. They said officers found a marijuana cigarette inside his pack of cigarettes as he was processed into the jail. Gonzales was arraigned and bail was set at $1,000 on a Class B misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana, and $3,317.30 for the municipal court warrants, the press release states.
