HARLINGEN — Police are investigating an aggravated assault that sent a man to the hospital Monday with multiple stab wounds, Sgt. John Parrish said in a press release.
The victim, 38, of Harlingen, sustained multiple stab wounds to the torso during an altercation with one of two men outside a residence in the 2000 block of Rio Hondo Road about 7:40 p.m. Monday.
Parrish said the weapon used has not been established yet.
The man was taken to Valley Baptist Medical Center for treatment.
The victim’s wife told police her husband was in stable condition as of 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Witnesses told police that two men wearing dark, hooded sweatshirts knocked on the front door of the residence and became upset after they were told the person they were looking for did not live there, Parrish said.
The two men then fled from the scene and hit a victim’s mailbox, causing damage to rear of a “grayish” car, Parrish said, adding that witnesses said the car could be a gray Lexus with tan trim on the bottom of the sun roof.
Police ask anyone with information about the stabbing to call the Harlingen Police Department at 956-216-5400 or the Harlingen Area Crime Stoppers at 956-425-8477.
