Man held on bond for smoking marijuana in front of 2-month-old baby

BROWNSVILLE - A man was arrested for smoking marijuana in the immediate proximity of his 2-month-old daughter, police said.

Police arrested and charged 33-year-old Daniel Wayne McKnight with child endangerment criminal negligence and possession of marijuana on Friday afternoon, said department spokesman Sgt. Jimmy Manrrique.

The arrest took place when police responded to a call of marijuana smoking at the Boca Chica Inn and Suites at 3300 Boca Chica Boulevard, police said.

"Officers at the scene discovered McKnight smoking marijuana right next to a 2-month-old baby," Manrrique said. "It was his daughter."

McKnight was being held on a $5,000 bond for child endangerment and a $2,000 bond for possession of marijuana.
