NEAR MERCEDES — An ongoing family feud led to a drive-by shooting Sunday night.

Sheriff's deputies are looking for a Ramiro Lozoya, the alleged gunman in the drive-by shooting and member of the Hermanos Pistoleros gang.

Deputies responded to a shooting at 3719 Campacuas in the Indian Hills Subdivision north of Mercedes, according to an agency statement.

The victim, Adolfo Martinez, told deputies that he and his uncle, Jose Luna, were standing outside their home when a red, four-door Dodge Neon driven by Lozoya stopped in front of the house.

The victim told deputies Lozoya threw several beer bottles, striking and breaking the headlight on one of their vehicles. Martinez called the sheriff's office to file a report.

Later, Lozoya and his friends returned and stopped in front of the victims' residence again.

"Hey!" one of the passengers in the vehicle yelled from the vehicle, the victims told deputies.

The passenger then fired a shotgun, striking Luna on the right side of his body.

Lozoya and his passengers then sped off from the scene, deputies said.

Deputies said the drive-by shooting occurred as part of an ongoing feud between the Lozoya and Martinez-Luna families. Luna's injuries were not life-threatening, but he was transported to Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco for treatment.

Authorities consider Lozoya armed and dangerous. Authorities obtained an arrest warrant for Lozoya on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges.

  • Any information about the shooting or Lozoya's location can be reported to Hidalgo County Crime Stoppers at (956) 668-8477.
