HARLINGEN - A 22-year-old Brownsville man is accused of stabbing a man in Harlingen early Monday, then stealing his truck and leading multiple police agencies on a high-speed chase from Harlingen to Brownsville through San Benito.

Armando Guerrero allegedly stabbed an 18-year-old man at 2828 E. Grimes Ave., then took the victim's gray Chevrolet truck, valued at $4,500, Harlingen police said.

The victim was taken to Valley Baptist Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, police said. Police would not release the victim's name.

At about 12:07 a.m., police spotted the stolen truck traveling south on Ed Carey Drive, police said. Officers pursued the truck through San Benito and into Brownsville.

Several law enforcement agencies joined the chase.

Guerrero lost control of the truck at the Brownsville Sports Complex, where he fled on foot, waded into a resaca and was cornered in a concrete tunnel, Harlingen police said.

The Brownsville Police Department, a U.S. Border Patrol K-9 officer and Cameron County Sheriff's Department deputies assisted.

Guerrero was presuaded to  leave the tunnel and was arrested without incident, Harlingen police said.

He was charged with aggravated robbery, evading arrest and detention with a vehicle.

On Monday he was arraigned by Harlingen Municipal Court Judge Valerie Garcia, who set bond on the charge of aggravated robbery at $45,000 and evading arrest with a bond of $15,000, police said.
