Harlingen police said Jesus Jair Mercado, 17, of Harlingen was seen running down the Arroyo Colorado embankment near the Family Dollar store at 110 Rangerville Road.
Around midnight on Oct. 1, police conducted a manhunt for a suspect by boat and helicopter. Police were looking for a man who tried to break into the store by smashing the front glass door with a 7-foot galvanized pipe, according to a police report.
A news release states that the suspect was last seen wearing a black muscle shirt and black shorts.
"Mercado has not been seen since the night of Oct. 1, 2008, and the family is concerned for his well-being," the release states.
Family members believe Mercado may be staying in the San Benito area, police added.
