BROWNSVILLE - The public can join The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College Master Chorale when it heads to Italy in March 2009.

The companion tour is being offered as the vocal group travels Sunday, March 15 to Sunday, March 22 to Assisi, Florence, Montecatini, Tuscany, Rome, Orvieto and Vatican City.

Travel costs for the trip will be $3,887.99 for single occupancy and $3,233.99 (each) for double occupancy.

A first payment of $646.80 is due Wednesday, Nov. 1 for a double occupancy reservation.

The Master Chorale has been invited by the Office of the Vatican to perform at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome for High Mass. The students will sing during the introduction, offertory and communion.

"Singing at the Vatican is a big deal, but being there with your friends and choir members will make the trip that much more special," said Leanne Blackwell, junior Master Chorale member. "This will be the highlight of my 10 years of being in choir."

For more information about the trip, contact Veronica Garcia, Program Director for Alumni Relations at 956-882-4327 or at veronica.m.garcia@utb.edu
