Comments 0 | Recommend 0HARLINGEN - Police arrested a 27-year-old man on charges of unlawful restraint after he broke into his apartment and refused to let his live-in girlfriend leave, officials said.
Police responded to the apartment complex, near East Van Buren Avenue and 13th Street, in reference to a disturbance, according to an arrest report.
The man, 27-year-old Andres Antonio Garza, was trying to get into the apartment, but his girlfriend, Anita Victoria Weaver, refused to allow him inside because he was angry and aggressive, the report states.
Garza began breaking windows in an attempt to get inside and Weaver was able to fight him off for a short time and then allowed him inside the apartment to prevent him from further damaging any property, according to the report.
Weaver did what he demanded of her because she was scared he would hurt her, the report states.
Once inside, Garza forced his girlfriend to lie on the bed with him, and held her down when police arrived and announced their presence, the report states.
The woman finally kicked and pushed Garza away and struggled with him before opening the door for police, according to the report.
Garza also had five outstanding warrants issued by the Harlingen Municipal Court, the report states.
