San Benito pummeled
Comments 0 | Recommend 0SAN BENITO - As wind gusts reached about 75 miles per hour midday Wednesday, signs wobbled, trees toppled and some neighborhoods here felt the full impact of Hurricane Dolly.
In a neighborhood on Spears Street, two houses next door to each other were both struck by felled trees. The damage wasn't extensive, said San Benito City Manager Victor Trevino. But branches and debris littered the street, and fallen branches also caused damage to some fences. High winds ripped the tin roof off a shed.
At times the rain fell parallel to the ground as the wind came in gusts Wednesday afternoon.
As of 1 p.m. Wednesday, San Benito had some scattered power outages but nothing widespread, Trevino said. At least one street light on Business 77 was out.
