Philadelphia police officer shot in holdup dies

PHILADELPHIA — A police officer shot in the head during a
robbery in a doughnut shop died today, the police
commissioner announced.
The 54-year-old officer, Charles Cassidy, died at 9:40 a.m. at
Albert Einstein Medical Center, police Commissioner Sylvester
Johnson said. He was shot Wednesday after walking into a Dunkin'
Donuts during a robbery.
He was the third Philadelphia officer shot in the span of four
days.
