Fund-raiser to help Donnie Sneed
Comments 0 | Recommend 0SAN BENITO - Country music stars will help raise money for an entertainer at Fun-N-Sun RV Resort on Tuesday.
Stars from Branson, Mo., will play two concerts here to raise money for Donnie Sneed, a Christian music singer stricken with cancer, organizers said.
Vance Greek, a local entertainer, will be master of ceremonies.
Sneed became a local legend for many Winter Texans after playing the Rio Grande Valley's RV parks for about two decades, organizers said. Sneed, a Branson entertainer, was diagnosed with throat cancer.
"He's a great guy. He's a real professional who's got a great act," said Greek, who met Sneed in Branson in the 1990s. "He's a fine Christian man who shares a strong faith."
Singer John Tweed will headline a 2 p.m. concert that will feature saxophonist Del Pushart, keyboardist Charlie Mudford and other stars at the park's dance hall.
Allen Edwards will headline a 7 p.m. show that will close with a videotaped tribute by country music star Louise Mandrell, organizers said.
