Man charged with concealing teacher's death
DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. — Police have charged a man with concealing the death of a Douglas County third-grade teacher. Chief Deputy Stan Copeland of the Douglas County Sheriff's Department says the body of Katie Parvu was found in her Douglasville town home on Saturday after deputies received a tip. Copeland says the 31-year-old woman had been dead for days and that she was the victim of a homicide. Copeland says deputies arrested Ladell Batiste, who is being held without bond on a felony charge of concealing a death. Parvu had been a teacher at Sweetwater Elementary in Lithia Springs for four years. Authorities say they know how Parvu died, but will not release the information.
