Community Forum: Pet adoption center in need of help
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Editor:
Bay Area Pet Adoptions, formerly known as Bay Area SPCA, has taken a crippling blow from Hurricane Ike. Our animals and staff are safe, but our buildings are in need of major repair and most supplies have been destroyed.
Since 1967, our group has served southeastern Houston communities by taking in animals for adoption from the public and from overcrowded animal shelters. We also provide pet food for residents in need, organize canine socialization activities, and educate the public about responsible pet ownership.
Now we must turn to the communities we have served and ask for support.
Without their help during this challenging time, we cannot continue to help the animals.
For daily updates and to donate, please visit www.BayAreaPetAdoptions.org.
Our Top Ten List of Needs
1. Financial Contributions: Donate online at our website or mail a check
to PO Box 638, Kemah, TX 77565.
2. Adopters for our animals.
3. On-Site Volunteers: Our staff needs to stay focused on the animals. We need volunteers to continue with cleanup and ongoing recovery.
4. HeartGard Heartworm Prevention/Frontline Tick & Flea Prevention Spray.
5. Generators & Gas Cards: Exxon, Valero, Shell stations are in our area.
6. Temporary On-Site Office Space - Trailer or Portable Building.
7. Veterinary Gift Certificates.
8. Kong Toys/Treats for Dogs (this may seem trivial, but our dogs need to stay occupied) and Cheese Whiz or Peanut Butter to make it easier for all animals to take medication.
9. Blankets and Towels: We will not be able to do laundry for a long time.
10. Intermediate, Medium and Large wire crates.
Bay Area Pet Adoptions is a limited admission organization dedicated to the lives of the animals we accept into our program. Our shelter relies solely on donations and minimal shelter earnings to house, feed and provide medical care to the animals living at our facility. We do not receive any government funding. We are a 501c3 non-profit organization.

Democrats need to get off Palin's daughter's case
Editor:
The Democrats need to get off the subject of Gov. Palin's 17-year-old daughter. So she is pregnant.
The Democrat candidate, Obama himself, was conceived out of wedlock. He was born Aug. 4, 1961, and his parents were married Feb. 2, 1961. I find no evidence that he was a preemie born at six months.
