Many don't know how to show their patriotism

To the Editor:

I read the July 17 article by Mr. Thomas D. Segal regarding a letter by Mr. Ken Huber from Tawas City, Mich., concerning "Thoughts on the degradation of America." I had to read the article twice, since some things sounded familiar. Some of these items are the same I have been discussing with my friends when we meet for coffee.

I also believe America is allowing Mexico to dictate how America should be run.

I made copies of this article to mail to friends and I hope they will pass them around to their neighbors.

I picked up the newspaper again and the next letter was from my friend Arturo Treto Garza. He writes about Independence Day festivities and how people do not feel like celebrating this event. I have also noticed that, and how some of the citizens are displaying the American flag. We have to give them credit for showing patriotism, but please do not forget your flag. I see a lot of tattered flags out there that should be retired or replaced.

Arturo, I do not know if I could give a good answer to your letter, but maybe we should go back to Mr. Huber’s letter. We might just find at least part of the answer there.

You, Joe Ibarra and I are out there. We did our part. I for one will not give up so easy on my country.
